Explore Stone Town
Stone Town, the oldest area of Zanzibar City on the island’s West Coast, is the cultural and historical heart of Zanzibar. Built from coral stone in the 19th and 20th centuries, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000. Despite some buildings falling into disrepair, the labyrinth of narrow alleys, bustling bazaars, and historic mosques create a captivating atmosphere. For an immersive experience, explore Stone Town on foot with a local guide. They will lead you through historical sites like the old slave market, Darajani marketplace, the House of Wonders, the Old Fort and the Sultan’s Palace. Imani Penthouse is just a 45-minute drive from Stone Town.
Spice Plantation Tour
One of Zanzibar’s most popular excursions, the Spice Tour, immerses you in the island's rich heritage and vibrant culture. As one of the world’s leading spice producers, Zanzibar offers a unique opportunity to explore its spice industry up close The tour takes you to an organic farm (shamba) where a knowledgeable guide will introduce you to a variety of spices and fruits cultivated on the plantation. Jozani Forest - Monkeys, Mangrove and Medicine Jungle
Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, also known as Jozani Forest, is the only national park in Zanzibar. Though small at just 50 km², it offers a tranquil and enchanting experience. A visit to Jozani Forest is a must for anyone exploring Zanzibar. The forest is renowned as a natural pharmacy, with each plant and tree offering medicinal properties. It’s also famous for its rare inhabitants, including the red Colobus monkey and the elusive Zanzibar Sykes’ monkey, both unique to the island. Alongside these primates, you might encounter bush-babies, 50 butterfly species, and around 40 bird species.
Mnemba Island Snorkeling Tour
Mnemba Island is renowned for some of the world's most stunning dive sites and snorkeling spots. Just 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Zanzibar (Unguja), this marine reserve is encircled by a vast coral reef that offers exceptional visibility for both snorkeling and scuba diving. The island is famous for its vibrant marine life, including Moorish idols, blue tangs and clown-fish, all easily visible in the crystal-clear waters above the well-preserved reef. Accessed by boat, Mnemba Island is about a 15-minute drive from Kiwengwa. A typical full-day excursion from 9 am to 3 pm includes snorkeling at Mnemba, a beach-side lunch and the opportunity to swim with dolphins. This tour is highly recommended for an unforgettable underwater experience.
